Membership
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Rotarian. Rotary International is an association of individual clubs, with each club operating autonomously. Membership is extremely important to us, and we are always eager to hear from individuals interested in our mission and in joining a Rotary club. The Rotary International universal premise is that the membership of each club constitutes an accurate representation of the business and professional population within the community served.
There’s something that all Rotary club members have in common: We take action. As community volunteers, we reach out to neighbours in need. We build, support, and organize. We save lives. We work locally and globally. Around the world and around the corner, the 1.2 million men and women of Rotary

Membership Requirements
Nomination Process
In order to become a member of The Rotary Club of Chengdu, you must be nominated and sponsored by a current member of our Club.
Once you have a sponsor, you submit an application, along with your bio, picture, and sponsor recommendation letter to be reviewed by our Board of Directors and Membership. Once your application is approved, you will be scheduled for New Member Orientation followed by your introduction to our Club at a weekly Dinner.
Service Requirements
Once you have become a member, you will be required to participate in and financially support the Club and its service projects in the following ways:
- Serve actively on at least one Club committee
- Attend weekly meetings whenever possible (you should normally expect to attend at least 50% of meetings)
- Take part in our service projects in some way -- donating your time and expertise or by helping to raise funds
- Participate in our events -- attending with your family, friends or colleagues, but also through helping with the running of the event itself, with sponsorship, donation of auction prizes or a performance
- Proposing appropriate new members to the Club
- Introducing interesting guest speakers
